Flooding

Norman has to be nearly the worst town for water drainage (next to New Orleans). Barely any rain results in heavy flooding, which means it even worse when there are heavy rains. So in addition to not being able to walk anywhere on campus or drive on any streets without facing inches of water, my apartment complex seems to like the idea of having rivers of water everywhere. There seriously isn't ANY way to get to my apartment without either walking through slippery mud or inches of water. There hasn't been any sod since I've lived here. It just mud. Even the sidewalk leading to our door is caked in mud/water because it's the lowest point in the area, thus where everything drains. So we have to make the decision of getting the apartment and our shoes muddy or wet. *sigh* I know not all of the apartments here are like that, but this one must be the worst out of them all. Okay, I'll stop ranting about the water now.

Oh... and my bathroom ceiling leaks. FUN! I took pictures of it because I'm still suffering from my earlier camera deprivation.

Tornado?

My roommate and I were talking a few evenings ago and she said that everything would be better if our apartment got destroyed. Since then, I have experienced the following:

1) A dream where J. Boties Convenience Store had a fire, then exploded. Later in the dream, my apartment had a mystery fire (and one of my bosses was hanging Spiderman sheets up on his bedroom walls as decoration). Pretty crazy.

2) Tornado warning for Cleveland and McClain counties. Nothing really happened, but there was a decent couplet that formed and went over us. I also just found out that there were tornadoes in Oklahoma yesterday around the time I left work(I was completely oblivious) and rotation had actually formed over the NWC. Pretty interesting. As for today, there was a ton of rain and some wind. Somehow the rumor got started of a tornado next to the Lloyd Noble Center, but that wasn't anything. The tornado sirens went off in Norman for the first (real) time since October 9, 2001. I didn't hear them because I was at work in the NWC. And I couldn't hear the security people on PA saying to take shelter. How comforting..

Of course, I didn't have my camera with me at work and I was going nuts. When most of it was over, I got a call about a beautiful double rainbow to the east. It was gorgeous. I attempted to get some pics on my phone, but they didn't really come out well. I tried to get my roommate to take a few with my camera (below), but it's still not the same. Oh well. It was beautiful though. It's just been overall crazy today.

Baseball vs. Football

I enjoyed this clip (yes, I really was studying..)

Stats Exam

I've been studying for my stats exam that I have tomorrow. One of the practice test questions was the following:

"A survey of 200 regular viewers of Channel 5 in Oklahoma City show that 68 believe that Gary England is God. A survey of 100 regular viewers of Channel 9 in Oklahoma City show that 68 of them also believe that Gary England is God. Given these data perform a 90 percent hypothesis to determine if the proportion of Channel 9 viewers who believe that Gary England is God is greater than the proportion of Channel 5 viewers who believe it."

Big sigh of relief... Now I can move on to tasks that are more fun, like mySQL base locator database. :-)

States

Updated... :-)

Home!

I just now finally got home from my trip. It was overall really exciting and I really enjoyed the visit (and the excuse to get out of Dodge, so to say.) I took a few pics around campus. They aren't incredibly impressive, but it was great to see green grass, real trees, and real mountains. I have a lot to get done in the next few days, so it is definitely time for bed!

Fire!

Well... smoke from the fire at least. I wanted to get closer, but cops had already blocked off the road. I heard it was a brush fire. Stupid people throwing cigarettes out their window! Grrr...

Random Post #2

This was a Cloodle in a game of Hoopla (basically, Cranium). Leave your guess as a comment. :-)

Random Post #1

Our apartment complex management leaves an occasional note at our apartment to keep us informed about what is going on, be it for renewing our lease, parking issues, reminding us to let our faucets drip, etc. Our last note seemed a little out of the ordinary:
