Tornado Outbreak
While I am waiting for the brunt of this storm system to hit me, I decided to go ahead and post some stuff about the day. It's been interesting so far.I had my regular 6am racquetball match. When I walked outside to leave, it felt like Oklahoma storm season outside. Kind of hard to explain, but it just did. I knew that there were going to be storms today, but unsure of the severity. The day went on and I continued to constantly stare at and refresh the NWS and SPC websites. The latter was really missing where the action was and it was pretty disappointing.
Later in the day, storms started kicking off. Due to the eastnortheastward movement of a NE/SW aligned storm system, it has been taking forever for the storms to get through the area. After work, I decided to drive out Hwy 231 to try and get a good picture of the storms off to the north and west. This picture is probably the best I got, plus it has a neat building in it (which I later saw that it was an Islam prayer center).
The storms have finally reached Warren county so it should start here soon (UPDATE: we just had an amazing gust front come through!!). A bit ago, I noticed something extremely weird - a severe thunderstorm warning with a size comparable to some watches. The image is below, with a listing of all of the counties it includes:
