Journals

I just want to throw out there that journals are wonderful things. I've found a whole collection of journals that I've kept over the years and it is purely amazing reading through them. Even though my entire life isn't documented in these, the few bits and pieces that are, whether by prose or poetry, help me see how far I've really come (or not so far, in some cases.)

One type of journal I kept for a while was a prayer journal. Out of all of them, that was the most revealing (other than some of my poetry.) Maybe it's just so cool to me because I have a horrible memory, but I love going back to right before college and seeing things I prayed for and how things evolved and came to life, especially when it was in ways I didn't expect.

I even found in the back of the prayer journal a list of qualities that I wanted in a guy. Surprisingly, these have not really changed, but I find it kind of humorous that I actually wrote it down. Reminds me of looking back at elementary school entries where I wrote down the all boys that I liked. Maybe something like that is good to write down though (the qualities, not the boys.)

Anyway, journals are cool. And they help me remember that I really was a 'normal' adolescent, help rejuvenate me when I'm feeling spiritually lazy, and help me realize recurring sin in my life. Sometimes it's painful reading, but in the long run, still amazing. :-)
